San Buenas Golf Resort
The first golf course in the Southern Pacific Region


PRESERVATION, CONSERVATION, AND REGENERATION

One of the core values of San Buenas is to preserve the remnant tropical rain forest on the property and begin to conserve and regenerate biodiversity. The property currently has 20 acres of primary rainforest that will be preserved. The remaining property is currently cattle pasture of 140 acres and 180 acres of Gmelina. San Buenas is actively eliminating the Gmelina, and will be nurturing secondary rain forest trees and plantings that will attract scarlet macaws, toucans, monkeys and butterflies. The golf course will offer a flowering tropical landscape and water features that will attract both golfers and the beautiful wildlife of Costa Rica to call it their home.

PLANNING GREEN
Master planning for the site is being done to offer long term sustainability by using engineered wetland wastewater treatment, recycling of waste water for golf course management, sewage biodigesters, and on-site storm water filtration. Other sustainable planning strategies will promote housing that is clustered into the rural landscape to preserve significant areas for reforestation. Regeneration of natural systems, low impact development, and long term preservation and stewardship are the goals at San Buenas.

Phase Two “San Buenas” totals 332 acres or
134 hectares.
• 200 acres of tropical forested hills and mountain, 148 acres of the sustainable golf course property will be planted with varied native plants and trees
• 8 cold, fast water creeks with numerous springs and waterfalls, several ponds and
wetlands, 20 acres of primary rain forest
• Villas and casita clusters for a projected 360 units with a building and paving footprints of less than 20 acres (6%)
• Buildings are arranged to best support a healthy regeneration of rainforest, and wildlife habitat
• Clusters of casitas and detached homes under the condominium form of ownership and management will allow owners a more carefree lifestyle
• Condominium management will offer the ability to rent out units owned by members for income
• Security will be offered at both the San Buenas community level and within each condominium cluster

SCHEDULE
Currently San Buenas has a special offering of limited lot sales. The greater condominium and clubhouse property is finishing with planning and approvals, and is scheduled to begin construction by mid year of 2008. The native plant and tree nursery are being established. Golf course grass plantings and landscaping will begin soon, as the rough roads are being cut during the dry months this winter.
